Library

For many years the number of members borrowing titles from the Society Library has been relatively small. At the conclusion of the term of office of the last librarian no successor came forward to take up the role and house the library.

To preserve access to the books for those interested in forces postal history the Committee by majority vote in 2023 decided to donate those books in our library to the Royal Philatelic Society, London which the Royal did not already hold. Please refer to the Royal Philatelic Society’s website for details of how their Library may be accessed, and to search their catalogue.

Some of the most popular books lent from the Forces Society library were from the series published by Proud covering the military postal history of many of the British Empire/Commonwealth nations. Following the death of Edward Proud in 2017 the remaining stock and copyright was donated to the Royal Philatelic Society. Details of the titles available for purchase are available on the Royal Philatelic Society, London’s website.

While the Forces Postal History Society’s library has been closed the Member’s Discussion Forum remains active for members to discuss and request information on any Society related topics. Members are encouraged to use the Forum and tap into the collective knowledge of the Society
