11th July 2026 - One Cover - One Story - Members displays

We had only 10 members at the meeting, but nevertheless it was a good showing of material.  What do we need to do to attract more members to come visit us at our meetings in London (Union Jack Club, Waterloo) or Banstead?

Geoff Hanney was first to display with a couple of letters to or from India with military connections. Plus a couple of postcards with military camp postmarks at Heliopolis aerodrome in 1915.  Nick Harris was next and showed five interesting Boer war items.  He was followed by Tony Stanford who had a number of Salonkia campaign items on display.  As to be expected Lorraine Maguire displayed New Zealand forces this time in the Pacific in WW2 as well as WW1 New Zealand items with a connection to her family.  Robert Hurst had a mixture of interesting items from WW1, WW2 and more modern times.  He was followed by Richard Berry who put up covers of the Queens Own Yorkshire Hussars in 1914, Libya Battalion during the desert war in WW2, a War Office item, a German envelope from an SS unit and Indian EEF postcards from WW1, as well as a WW2 conscientious objector item plus some unusual French colonial forces items.  Simon MacArthur had some unusual WW2 German feldpost items to show whilst Peter High displayed Italian troops in Ethiopian War items associated with the Battle of Adwa, plus the British Hospital ship Rohilla.
