Australia Northern Territory Military and RAAF

FPHS member Malcolm Price displays a brief history of the Post Master General operated military and RAAF post offices in the Northern Territory. He sets the scene pre-WW2 and explains the rapid expansion of the postal services to support the build up of troops following Japan’s entry into the war in 1941.

With an exceptionally well illustrated display, he shows a range of postal history, explaining the datestamp types, periods of use and the challenges of moving mail in and out of the region.
