I do have small collection of items from Indian FPO's in the Dutch East Indies at end of the Second World War. As been said the Proud Indian Army Postal Service volume has information on the Indian.

The Indian Army Post Office in the Second World War by Brig, D.S. Virk on pages 284 to 287 talks about the Indian Post Office operations in the Dutch East Indies is another source.

According to Proud's 'British Army Postal Service Vol. 3' (Page 256) there was no British FPO used in Dutch East Indies at the end of the War. There was number of British Units from early 1942 to 12th March 1942 on Java when they surrendered to the Japanese.

I understand but have not looked into in detail that there were Australian and American Offices in North Borneo and Dutch East Indies coming up from New Guinea Area, but understand only had short life.

Also there was Organisation that supported the Prisoners and Internees that had Cachets for organisation I have not looked into the detail how the postal system worked, but I understand use the military offices as initially no civil Offices and possible semi-military organisations.

The RAF used transport planes to move the POW and Internees to Singapore.
