FIELD POST OFFICE 359 in 1999

I recently received an enquiry from an individual who wioshed to know where FPO 359 was used in 1999 - he had a cover dated 16 AP 99. He stated that on arrival in London it bore a meter mark for 26p postage dated 19 IV 99 addressed to the UK ITSEC Scheme. In my response I stated We have recorded FPO 359 as follows:

1.      14 Feb 66 – 17 Jul 91 at BFPO 34 Dusseldorf, Germany

2.      12 May 92 – 2 Sep 94 at (location unknown)

3.      May 2001 in a datestamp return held as at this time held by BFPO 40 Rheindahlen, Germany

It is not known when it moved from Dusseldorf to Rheindahlen. The cover with the meter mark was not struck in London; the serial number HF22050 will have at the top BFPO 34 (for Dusseldorf) and is one of many BFPO meter marks.  The reason why it was applied was because official mail had to be paid for and meter franking machines was one way of doing it.

My question is - does anyone have any FPO 359 covers during this period (late 1990's), if so are there any unit dataestamps or return addresses on your cover. Please send me details.

Thanks, Mike
