OPENED BY CENSOR labels WWI navy

I have a cover posted from Amsterdam in 1916, addressed to the USA. It was being carried on the Dutch ship SS Zeelandia which was intercepted by the British and the mail confiscated. There is a boxed cachet : RELEASED BY THE / BRITISH MILITARY AUTHORITIES.

From a similar cover it is highly likely this was applied in 1919 when the mail was released.

In this instance there are three OPENED BY / CENSOR labels stuck on the envelope - why three? The other cover I have has just the one un-numbered ObyC label and was addressed to Brazil.

The first label attached is numbered 1403, the next placed over it is un-numbered and the last label numbered 5867.

Would be interested in any observations.

Forum is not so easy to use as before, but almost certainly that's due to my lack of computer skills

Cheers

Tony
