Gould 6B28
I am attaching a scan of a postcard bearing Gould 6B28, which he tentatively attributes in Volume 2 of his work as
ML100 or ML365.
The card is written from "Sidney" to Miss Bessie Prior in Surrey. I have found a marriage record for Sidney Polden to Bessie Prior in Basingstoke in 1920. I have also found him n Ancestry as a signaller, service no J19048, but I cannot find a record of any ship he served on.
Can anyone add anything to this?

Hello Alan, I am only writing this as practice on the new website, so probably no help at all. His service number appears incomplete in that it does not have a prefix C for Chatham, P for Portsmouth, or D for Devonport. "J" was for Seamen & Comms ratings so tallies with him being a signaller. The lack of an "X" after the "J" suggests he joined prior to the new early 1930s pay code was introduced so you might have some joy with the service records at Kew. I guess Bessie was their daughter. Sorry, no help at all I guess. Happy New Year! Colin
