Bushey Down Camp, Droxford

In researching Army Camps I have found Bushey Down Camp, Droxford, Southampton in the P.O. Archive which shows that camp had been opened by the 24th May 1904, which the date of circular.

So I am currently assuming that had opened within 7 days since the previous circular issued the week before.

I have seen an example dated the 23rd May 1904 (see below).

The above 32mm Skeleton Single Ring which aligns with Kington's list.

Has any one seen an early date for this Camp?

James Mackay's book on skeleton postmarks gives 23rd as earliest date for this camp.

The "Skeleton Postmarks of England & Wales" by Patrick Awcock & John Frost (3rd Edition, 2006 publish by the British Postmark Society) show the following:

 

BUSHEY DOWN CAMP    23 MY 1904 - 27 MY 1904             32mm

(near Droxford, which is now under Southampton)

 

There are no updates listed in Supplements 1st to 19th (April 2024)
