Help wanted with WW1 military mail from France

I am currently working on my thematic aircraft exhibit and I need help with this WW1 postcard from France. I do not at the moment have access to postal history handbooks on WW1. The postcard was sent from Abbeville by ace pilot Hugh Thomas Elliott and I would like to know more about both the postmark and the censor handstamp. The only information that I have is from the "Collect British Postmarks" handbook and it tells me that the S.1-postmark was in use at Abbeville. Can anyone tell me anything else? Times of usage or postmark/censor type? Best regards Tommy Samuelsson

Hi Tommy,
the APO 'S' designation were stationary offices and most of these rarely moved throughout the whole of WW1. APO S1 was at Abberville for the period Jan 1915 through to Dec 1919. Abbeville was important by location, I think was HQ British line of communication, the base for the British Red Cross in France and also the locxation of numerous military hospitals.
The Censor cachet (type CM5) I read as 334 or 384, was commonly used on the Western Front, although it is also recorded from Italy. There is no reseach for this type that I have seen (Frank Daniel's book/ research did not cover this).
