FPO577

Mike Street in Canada has raised a query about the attached cover. It bears the franking FPO577 and has an obvious Canadian connection.

However, this FPO number does not appear in Doug Sayles Catalogue of Canadian Military Mail Markings.

Is this a British marking and if so, where would it have been used?

The Base Censor mark is in the WWII list of Censor Marks B402 and the page heading states these marks were used in N Africa, CMF and NW Europe, although the date suggests the last of these can be ruled out.

Is there a listing of FPO numbers?
