Invergordon krag machine cancel in WW1

A rather specialised topic I admit but there may be a few of you with some of these covers.

In September 1915, to deal with a substantial increase in the amount of mail the Invergordon post office had to deal with, they took possession of a Krag automatic cancelling machine and inserted +++++ plugs in the two die heads instead of the word INVERGORDON, for security reasons.

The earliest date I have is 30 OCT 15 which seems a good while after the machine was received, one would have expected them to install is asap.

I would be pleased to hear of the earliest date recorded for the use of this machine, and also whether the first use did in fact have INVERGORDON in the die heads - very unlikely I think, unless they didn't have any +++'s to hand

Cheers

Tony
