WW2 Italy ACS Cachets

Does anyone have any reference, study materials or information on the use of the ACS cachets in WW2 please.

Thank you (I hope) in advance.

I was able to carry out a quick search in the 'Royal' Library today and came across two Italian military books which illustrated or mentioned ACS markings. The books were:

  • Catalogo Ales Posta Militare by Fernado Ales (no publication date given)

  • Le Occupazioni Alleate in Italia (The Allied Occupations in Italy) by Emanuele M. Gabbini and Maurizio Raybaudi Massilia (published 1991)

The second publication suggests that A.C.S. stands for "Allied Control Service" or "Allied Censorship Service" and both provide listings or illustrations of ACS censor markings. The Alex catalogue appears to provide a series of illustrations at p.137 under the heading (online translation) "Some Allied Censorship" but there appears to be no text about these censor markings. The Gabbini/Massilia publication is in both Italian and English and whilst it does mention ACS marks it does not appear to illustrate them. I have attached the relevant extracts from these publications. Whilst it provides a partial answer, it does not provide a full response.
