Indian FPO 3, June 1915

Hi, all, I received an enquiry at Banstead yesterday about Indian FPO 3. The enquirer showed me a postcard with this postmark, dated June 1915. It was a picture of the card on his phone, so I couldn't see the picture side (ie no clue as to where it was from). He was wondering what unit(s) were using this FPO, and where. I have no reference books on Indian FPOs in WW1, so I said I'd put his enquiry on the Forum. For further interest, it carried the triangular censor (CM3, I think it is) no.351.

I'll pass on any help you can provide.

Thanks a lot!

From Proud - History of the Indian Army Postal Service - Volume 2 1914-1931.

The IFPO No. 3 was from about February 1915 to March 1916 was in France with 2nd Indian Cavalry Division RH (which I believe is Railhead).

This is supply point for the Division so would have some supply units, but the Field Post Office could in theory be used by all units attached to the division.
