Royal Garrison Artillery in St. Lucia

After reading Gerald Marriner short article in FPHS Journal No 341 page 755. It is very nice piece of Military Postal History addressed to a small unit.

I believe that article is incorrectly titled as the R.G.A. is Royal Garrison Artillery and is not Royal Guernsey Artillery.

I remembered I had book The History of the Coast Artillery in the British Army by Col. K. W. Maurice-Jones, D.S.O has the following information:

The Royal Guernsey Artillery were a Militia / Volunteer Unit which was Garrison Company of the Coast Artillery formed as such 1881 from an existing unit. This Unit was allocated for the coast defence of Guernsey if was mobilised the members were only signed up for Home Defence. In 1905 it appears the 13th Royal Garrison Artillery Battery was part of the regular Garrison of Guernsey.

The coast artillery station on St. Lucia was re-opened in 1892 and was closed in 1905 (although appears a later date of 1907). The Royal Garrison Artillery (R.G.A.) during this period were set up as individual companies unfortunately the records for individual companies has been lost or destroy. Although it appears the 67th Company was at Portsmouth during WW1. The coast defence of St. Lucia was taken over by local forces after the regulars were withdrawn.

Hart's Army list has the 67th Company Royal Garrison Artillery on St. Lucia in 1905.
