Undeliverable London to Poland (Russia) 1915
This cover, unregistered is also addressed to Poland (Russia) in 1915 from the same sender. It also has a Delivery impossible cachet applied in France (no other French marks) BUT we have a Russian censor mark which translates as ALLOWED BY THE CENSOR which is interesting. This same mark with these two charcacters (plus additional marks within the circle) appear on my covers sent from England during WWI to Russia which obviously went direct by sea.
I would very much welcome some explanation of how and where this cover received these marks
Also in passing, any idea who Henry Gordon was (must be dead now). Google not helpful
Cheers
Tony

Once mail reached Sweden by ship, the rest of the trip through Finland and on to Petrograd was by land. Mail was exchanged between Sweden and Finland at the border town of Haparanda. Mail from Odessa would also be routed via Petrograd, Finland and Sweden. Mail could transit France only if it passed through Germany, and that was not happening.
