Caribbean Aircrew in RAF WWII
Just found this site, which gives details of many of the RAF members in WWII who came from the Caribbean colonies. It is estimated that these numbered 6000.
Particularly, look at the record for Cy Grant, who joined up from British Guiana (as it was then) and was shot down on a bombing raid, ending up as a POW. Worth also reading his book "A Member of the RAF of Indeterminate Race". His name will be familiar to many older members as a calypso singer on the BBC, but he was a qualified lawyer.
